Hey, I’m Jintai Chen, a tenure-track assistant professor at HKUST (Guangzhou), also affiliated with the Clear Water Bay Campus.

Prior to that, I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and I obtained my Ph.D. from the College of Computer Science and Technology at Zhejiang University. My research is situated at the intersection of artificial intelligence and healthcare, with a focus on developing generative models and agents to address real-world medical challenges. Specifically, my work encompasses pan-modal foundation models, clinical predictive modeling, artificial intelligence-driven therapeutic discovery, and clinical trial optimization.

I am actively seeking highly motivated Ph.D. students with robust backgrounds in computer science/AI/ML or closely related disciplines. ⚠️Notably, an authentic passion for scientific research is an indispensable reality of the role (this is not a boilerplate statement), alongside a high proficiency in programming.⚠️ This call for applications remains open indefinitely.
